SOLUTION
Proposed Concepts
Based on the understanding of secondary research, my observation/Heuristics, and, hypothesis...I explored some initial concepts

The Journey Begins With
“Milestones and Points”
Core drives triggered:
Accomplishment, Empowerment, Unpredictability, Scarcity and Ownership.
Gamification element used:
Milestones rewards, Boosters, Progress bar, Dangling, Point system and FOMO punch

Milestones on the Program card showing the percentage of the course completion by the user and the av.% of course completion by other people enrolled for the same course. Where there is a pre-disclosed reward on completing each milestone which keeps on increasing every time and to motivate the users who are unknowingly hooked in status quo sloth condition and to motivate users from beginning a unrevealed reward i.e. mystery box
Average percentage of course completion by other people, motivates users and generates and urge to do more.
Badges and
“Learner of the Week”
Core drives triggered:
Social Influence, Accomplishment, Empowerment, Unpredictability, Scarcity and Ownership.
Gamification element used:
Rolling reward, Boosters, Dangling, Protection, FOMO punch and social recognition.

Learner of the week badge, given to top 3 Learners of the week depending on the hours they spend learning on LMS, announced on the weekend.
Grab Attention with
“Highlighted Banners”
Core drives triggered:
Accomplishment, Unpredictability, Scarcity and Ownership.
Gamification element used:
Fixed Action Reward (Accomplishment), Mystery box and oracle effect for suppressing felling of status quo sloth and a little of FOMO punch under avoidance and unpredictability!

Overall Look and Feel
How all this put together looks like.

Iterations
Explorations and Other UX Decisions
Apart from the gamification techniques I also explored few other ideas around, how can we make this journey more useful and joyful for users.
01
Adding Bookmark Tag & Section

Users can bookmark important lessons, which can be easily accessed in their profile, along with any notes they’ve taken during the learning process.
The bookmarks will be categorized by course type and other relevant filters, making it simple for users to quickly identify and find the content they need in this section.
02
Daily and Weekly Progress Info. & Monthly Upcoming Events List
"A daily time-spent tracker will keep users informed about how much time they've dedicated to learning each day, while a weekly graph will visually represent their progress and growth over the week."
"A monthly schedule of upcoming events will help users stay organized, especially since they are busy professionals with limited time to manage tasks and keep track of events. This feature ensures they won’t miss important opportunities without needing to manually record them."

03
Social Creatures as Learning Partners
Introducing social creatures as learning companions adds a fun, personal touch to the user experience. These creatures will evolve as users learn, and users can name them to build a personal connection. The creatures can send notifications with a playful, emotional impact, such as:
'Hey Komal! I’m missing you—let’s connect, learn, and grow together!'
Additionally, they can celebrate users' milestone achievements with actions like dancing, jumping, clapping, or giving hugs, making the learning journey more engaging and rewarding.

A happy, vibrant and exciting attention catcher notification card on the top of the program card, where important messages like unlocking a mystery box, learner of the week, etc. can be displayed or in case if no notification is required the amazon voucher card can be displayed!
Learnings
Putting users at the centre of the design process is a fundamental principle of UX design. I learned to empathise with users, understand their needs, and create designs that address those needs effectively. Keeping the user at the forefront throughout the design process ensures that the end product is intuitive, engaging, and meets user expectations.

Motivation
Core Drives
Proposed some solution & concepts explorations based on hypothesis on understanding till now.
Formulated a focused questionare intended to find out users motivational aspects/core-drives, demotivational aspects, likes and dislikes with Simplilearn, to support my hypothesis.
Used Stratified sampling technique for sorting users from user database for interviews - Total 30 user interviews were conducted.
Color coded according to the feelings, repetative emotions or insights of users, with 3 colors orange-most important, green-very important and light green- important.
Leads to specific patterns and trends in both qualitative as well as quantative insights
Solutions and concepts molded and refined with the data collected.
Recorded all the telephonic interviews
Actionable Gamification ”Yu-Kai-Chuu”--- Octalysis Framework of Gamification
Documented for analysing - Used Deductive analysis & sorting technique for qualitative data extraction and done affinity analysis for quantative data extraction
Types of motivation and various human motivational aspects.
It is a framework which says that there are 8 core drives behind any human motivation, and, then gives you a set of gamification techniques for each of those 8 core-drives, which you can use to enhance motivation generated because of that specific core-drive.
Habit forming principles
Persuasive Design Techniques
Human Behaviour
Gamification & Gratification
Knowledge Transfer from Team
Self Observation/Heuristics
Usage data analysis (Tableau data - Mapping user interaction behaviours through Heatmaps, no. of clicks, most used favility or area to define the display data priority)
Look at other platforms used gamification successfully
Human psychology towards digital platforms, expectations and emotions towards Ed-Tech or online learning
Various Gamification elements used to motivated or form habit in digital products, and, their implimentation process.
Mapped possible core-drives behind our users motivation
OCTALYSIS FRAMEWORK OF GAMIFICATION
Framework used by me to Map User Core-Drives
The Octalysis Framework is a human-centric
gamification design framework that lays out the
eight core drives for humans motivation
developed by Yu-Kai Chou. ... It is the process of
applying the core behaviour drives that motivate a
user to complete a task efficiently through an
interactive experience using the right gamification elements.
The five Core Human Drives that can influence our user behavior:
Accomplishment: Within 3-6 months I will complete this course to achieve my target.
Empowerment: Better way to dress up your profile and build reputation
Social Influence: I want to be ahead other people in my domain, circle.
Ownership: Because you own something, you want to improve it, protect it, and get more of it
Scarcity and Impatience: Very few people posses this course knowledge or skillset and this is not available to everyone - I must posses this knowledge

DEFINING

Why Octalysis Framework?
It is the most robust framework that covers all aspects of motivation and Human core behaviour drives.
Top companies across world like, IBM, Headspace, Fitbit, etc. have used it to introduce the right fit gamification technique to meet their users core-drives.

The research
Insights Gathered
Major areas mapped after Affinity analysis of User Interviews were, Users competitive spirit, Distraction reason, Users view about course content, Preference for alone V/S group study, Users view on deadline/timetable or schedule, Users education qualification, Users employment status, which are discussed below with users point-of-view.
01
Users competitive spirit

User Says
I proved to some people wrong that I can also do everything and anything special that you can't, so that was a good moment for me.
my no.1 goal is to acquire all those skills to be best
I felt proud when I was only one who got placed in placement on day zero
I try to stay ahead of others, I like to be on top not second
Go to a higher role
my college the work pressure would be little hectic and heavy but yet we used to organize programs because I love challenges
I was nominated and awarded as the best manager across the entire HP
one cricket match which was awesome when I was playing against Ace, you know they were Champions
want to be the CEO of my company
02
Users Distraction reasons

User Says
Some of things like my social life, sometime back I had too much of the social life so that distraction for me.
My family members around me and keeps me distracted
I think siblings and other family members are little distractions because when you studying and they might be watching TV or doing something else
Some-times should be my phone offcourse, and sometimes there are many personal issues also, so ya that might be it.
I guess my phone, it keeps on distracting me and as I have said I have lack of giving too much attention to something.
Smartphone I will say, because anytime I see notification I open it
working for almost 11 to 12 hours at home
My worklife, sometimes the work load or the opportunities I see in this field like I feel I can get some good pay here and fear of starting from scratch demotivates me.
Social media it can be, It can be any artical that is not related to my career but I go and read , later I feel I wasted my time.
03
Users Views for course content

User Says
But I got to know some of the content from my partners but that was not covered here, there I felt little disappointed
I felt like an instructor was just running through the videos and sometime it's boring and sleepy, Because various topics are like pure theory only
Course content was pathetic, as I told you I was expecting much more for the amount I spent. For, example you have these assignments in mid and there criteria is so basic that any dumb person can pass it so I don't feel good. I mean you don't need to put so much effort. there was no indepth knowledge.
The content is very normal not something that you are hiding it from everyone there is nothing like such it’s a very normal content and you can find it on YouTube and there are books which has very good content and are open source you are projecting your videos at something which are very secure and valuable but it is nothing like that
I would rate 4, reason because I was expecting something more challenging content, the course content was comfortable but yet I need some mentor or some kind of support when I was stuck at point lekin yaar now what to do and then what to do, like a guide I am saying.
Maybe 3, because of the courses on dashboard are not that intracting or informative then those on youtube
It was good at the beginning but the quality of content kept on deteriorating and was not value for money, there was very less visuals but more of theory
04
Preference on Alone v/s Group study

User Says
Due to current situation, I have to learn alone but, if given choice I would prefer a friend or companion.
I need a company and definitely I am not a person to read alone or to learn by myself I don't like that.
Anything is fine for me but if I have an option to learn with the group I would choose that but for now I don’t have the option to choose a group so I am fine learning alone
I love to learn in group as we learn from other people also
I may need assistance. may need healp at some times, but, I love to learn alone.
Well I choose a company and the reason is because you can share Idea as you know and you can continue learning from each other, and in the recent scenario we literally need the support of Somebody
I think I like both, sometime alone-sometime group, but preference is group or partner.
It kind of depends on time like when I was in college I used to prefer group studies.
Beacuse I have been in both these situations like school and colleges. So We know how to study in group and alone. I would go for group if given a choice
05
Users view on deadline/timetable or schedule

User Says
Get up early morning, went to office daily, before that I have 1 hour of studies, and, then in the evening after office I come to home around 9 or 10 PM, then take a dinner and 30min. of revision and sleep
I schedule my day now in work from home, otherwise I miss on important things that are necessary to be done, or I pass everything on tomorrow
Simplilearn should provide like help to time table thing, that you should complete the course within this time and then you should move to next target within that time. It's just like something challenging everyday
Talking about motivational factors then I need some deadlines to complete something motivate me frankly. Yah because otherwise you get lazy because there is lot of work and some household disturbances as well in between that finding out something really for you is really a big thing
I am a very planner person, I like to plan things and try to plan things ahead of time what needs to be done, I have this habbit of mapping to-do-list daily
Focus course thing that I have to complete a particular course before deadline and that was really motivating
As I am in management, I like to manage everything properly and on point.
If I be time-bound I complete things easily rather than open ended things, even for my clients as well, if any project is not time-bound I deliver it late
My day, I wakeup refresh, take breakfast, plan my day activities
